Bobby Wilkerson Honored at NCAA Final Four for Historic 1976 Indiana Hoosiers 50th Championship Team Celebration
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (April 3–7, 2026)) Water Transit Solutions (WTS) announced today that its chairman, Bobby Wilkerson, will be honored during a national recognition celebrating the legendary 1976 Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball—the only undefeated NCAA Division I men’s basketball champions in the past 50 years.
As the nation commemorates 250 years of history, the 1976 Hoosiers continue to hold a singular place in college basketball history as the last—and only—undefeated NCAA Division I men’s basketball champions, a distinction they have maintained for 50 years. The team is widely regarded as one of the greatest in the history of the sport.
Wilkerson, a starting guard on the historic roster, played alongside standout teammates Quinn Buckner, Scott May, Kent Benson, and Tom Abernethy, helping to secure the team’s place in history.
“Being part of the 1976 Indiana Hoosiers was about more than basketball—it was about discipline, unity, and representing something bigger than ourselves,” Wilkerson said. “To be recognized 50 years later, especially during such a historic moment for our country, is truly humbling.”
Following his collegiate career, Wilkerson went on to play in the NBA with the Seattle Supersonics, Denver Nuggets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Chicago Bulls. After retiring from professional basketball, he transitioned into collegiate coaching and dedicated himself to youth development, hosting free basketball camps nationwide, with a focus on underserved communities.
As chairman of Water Transit Solutions (WTS), Wilkerson’s focus is on providing fresh, clean water to people during emergency situations and in everyday life using proprietary, innovative water delivery solutions.
